Real Cuba

We invite you to click on our new link and visit Real Cuba,  where, if only in cyber-space,  the spirit of the island lives in freedom and prosperity.  The  ‘Socialist Paradise’ somehow continues to be a seductive notion  for some of us who remain unable or unwilling to separate myth from reality.  Real Cuba opens our eyes to the legacy of social and economic tragedy inflicted by the perpetrators of a brutal and anachronistic political ideology.  Their only  success has been to redefine domestic oppression as an art form.
Yet, with this happy clip of Senor Luisito (Quivican Sound Machine), Real Cuba all at once reminds us of what was and what could be. They have made a commitment to history and deserve great support.

Iranian Government Announces Next Astronauts

Building on the success of their recent  launch of  a sub-orbital fireball “manned” by two turtles, a mouse and a can of worms, the Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khameini and The Council of Guardians have announced the crew specifically selected to participate in the upcoming  “Gemini”  phase of the Iranian space program….

Humans Lead in Global Artistic Production

Whether musical, visual, plastic or literary: The best art on this planet continues to be produced by humans.
Efforts by grunting whales,  dancing dolphins, chirping birds,  clever rats, talking dogs, athletic squirrels and screaming chimps, by comparison,  somehow seem to fall short of generally accepted aesthetic norms…So, it seems, while the world of nature inspires, the artistic endeavors of the lesser mammals leave something to be desired.

Notice- no pick….artistry is achieved by means of an opposing thumb and four fingers…

Knock, Knock…Who’s There? The Tenth Amendment.

The tenth amendment who…? The tenth amendment which limits the power of the federal government by stating that, “All powers not expressly assigned to the federal government are reserved to the states or to the people.”   This, for some reason, reminds us of a few quotes by Mark Twain….

“If you tell the truth you never have to remember anything.”

“Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.”

“A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.”

Amtrak needs your help initiating new middle-class service to the moon.

Brown Won, Now What…

Here’s what government can do now: Forget about carbon, shut up about Wall Street, cut taxes, reform tort law, stay out of the private sector, stop micromanaging the economy, and stop holding the idea of profit in arrogant contempt. Is it really necessary for members of congress to remind us daily about the significance of their responsibilities, duties and mandates? Their supply of sanctimony appears to be inexhaustible. (The most dangerous place in Washington is anywhere between Chuck Schumer and a television camera). Legislators, in general, can stop practicing constituency-torture by unctuous piety and start doing what they’re supposed to do which, ideally, would be as little as possible. Take central planning on a permanent vacation. It will do wonders for the country, you’ll see. Then shut up, lay off, and let us prosper, OK? After all, Scott Brown drives a truck made in Detroit. As the largest shareholder of GM, Obama should be elated.
On a related note: It seems Rep. A. Weiner (D-NY) has been suddenly reborn…this time with ears.

"Paris is the Capitol of Rome" is a blog about thinking and making things, then rethinking and remaking them. It's about the possibility that randomness isn't really that random, and the ongoing internal debate about whether the program generates the product or if it's really the other way around.
It's about the evolution of architecture, politics, philosophy, and the arts in our brave new digital world of terror, political correctness, and collisions between paradessential cultures.

"The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright-
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night."
- Lewis Carroll, 1872
