Deforming Imagination

To Gaston Bachelard imagination is a creative faculty of the mind rather than a reproduction of perception. Contrary to the traditional idea of imagination as the faculty for forming images, his point was that it actually is the faculty for deforming images, as it is free of the mental limitation of reality. He called this the function of the unreal.
