Green Day Announces Concert for the Gulf Event
Rock acts are virtually falling all over themselves to be included in the upcoming “Save the Gulf” event announced today by the socially conscious indie band Green Day. Environmentally focused acts are rallying in support of Green Day’s call for action to save the Gulf. In lieu of ticket sales, donations from attendees will be committed to gulf water and beach restoration. These great performers will obviously be appearing solely on behalf of the environment. Unconfirmed agreements to perform have so far been received from Sting, U2, Willy Nelson, Enya, The Indigo Girls, Madonna, Blue Man Group, REM, Elton John, Dave Matthews Band, Hot Buttered Rum, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Roots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Fallout Boy, Pink, and Crowded House. The commitment of these acts to their adopted cause is truly commendable…They will all be putting their money where their mouths are. Unfortunately, Steely Dan have declined for reasons of, “insufficient irony.” ZZTop have declined due to, “too many pussy groups.” Regarding 36Mafia and Gorillaz…we hope, but who knowz? The Rolling Stones, well…, they are the Rolling Stones. Although, Jagger has offered to give a lecture on the subject of fame and why oil goes with vinegar better than salt water. Bowie tentatively agreed on the condition Jagger will not appear. We’ll see. This is not an event where a mere dollar from each ticket will be applied to the cause. This is an event that will raise millions from the generous and unrestricted donations from each attendee. The non-profit organization REVERB will be there to educate you, too. Have a blast, express yourself, and don’t forget to stay hydrated…hydrogen dioxide for everyone and for the Gulf of Mexico! Let’s work as a community! United we stand! Together we can make things happen! Here’s a chance to “give back.” What are you waiting for?
